Image Description
This image was taken at the Hooker Valley glacial lake which is located at the bottom of Mount Cook. It's a 5km hike and it's one of the most stunning walks in the country which consists of icebergs, glaciers and magnificent snow-capped mountains at every turn. After this image was taken I thought it would be a good idea to try my luck walking on the frozen lake. I got about 10 metres out onto the lake when it decided to start cracking beneath me. What happened next was a mad dash back to the safety of the snow and rocks while trying to run on the moving sheets of ice around me evading the icy cold water below.
